What Is Racism Anymore? (OP-ED)

On Saturday President Trump unloaded on Maryland Representative Elijah Cummings. Trump said in a tweet,

"Rep, Elijah Cummings has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Boarder, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA.....As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Boarder is clean, efficient, & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he could spend more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place.

President Trump was referring to the heated exchange between Cummings and Homeland Security Chief Kevin McAleen during the House Oversight Committee's questioning about the Southern Boarder.

The response from Democrats to Trump's criticism of Elijah Cummings and Baltimore was to naturally pull out the race card. In today's America if you have a problem with someone or something it isn't specifically about that action, it's directly tied to the color of your skin.

Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi said in response to President Trump,

"Rep. Cummings is a champion in the Congress and the country for civil rights and economic justice, a beloved leader in Baltimore, and deeply valued colleague. We all reject racist attacks against him and support his steadfast leadership."

The response from Pelosi was reasonable, until the racist part. Of course politicians will always stand up for their party's elected colleagues, but the racist part is not needed. Pelosi herself was accused just last week by the "squad" of being racist towards women of color in Congress. Even President Trump came to the defense of Pelosi and stated that with all the attacks and their differences on policy, she is not a racist.

This leads up to the entire point of this article. When do we stop conflating disagreements as racism? Over the past few years all we have heard from mainstream media along with Democratic representatives is that President Trump and his supporters are racist. No matter what is said or how it is said there is always an accusation of racism.

Though President Trump never mentioned race in his attack towards Cummings, it is assumed that's what it must be about. Obviously stating that a city with a 180 homicides so far this year is dangerous, is racist. Stating that a city is rat infested, which its own residents agree with, is racist. Claiming that a city is corrupt due to leadership when the mayor resigns due to stealing taxpayer money, is racist. It is a joke.

It is understandable that people want to stick up for their hometown and not let negative things be said, but when the truth is right in front of you, you can't pretend to be blind. That is what Democrats are doing. They tell the people they are amazing and fluff them up for the next election, but do nothing to solve the problems. They say the system is racist and that they are the guy to fix the issue when in reality its just a play for power.

What has Elijah Cummings done for Baltimore? Why is the area he represents #8 on Orkin's list of rattiest cities of 2018? Is the exterminator company racist? Is Bernie Sanders racist for calling Baltimore a "third world country" in 2016? Is Pelosi racist for all the minorities that are homeless in California? Democrat Representative Rashida Tlaib's county is ranked dead last in almost all categories in Michigan, while the majority of her constituents are minorities, does that make her racist?

Were we to use today's liberal rule of thumb, they are all racists and should be impeached from their positions at once! When did America change? When did we decide as a nation that if we disagree about something it only has to do with race? It seems that this is all the Democrats have left in the tank to push their engine forward. When you have no more ideas and nothing that you've done policy wise has ever helped the community, all you can do to keep power is to keep the people divided.

Politics today have become all about division. Politicians love the division. As much as they try to tell us that diversity is our strength, they use that diversity to sow discord amongst the American people and that is despicable. They don't care if you are black or white, or if you are homeless or not, they only care about that vote.

The goal of these race baiting politicians is to give you just enough to shut you up and get your vote whilst not changing a damn thing about the policies that created the problem to begin with. As long as you think your fellow man is racist you wont look to the top of the food chain to notice who is pulling the strings.

When you have politicians like the one in Georgia who faked a racial attack, when you have politicians throwing the word racist around on every statement, you miss real racism in this country.

For example, Planned Parenthood was started by a white eugenicist who wanted to rid the world of minorities and thought whites were the ultimate race. That is true racism, but we are told by Democrats that not allowing a Planned Parenthood to perform abortions is racist. Or we could talk about voting laws. Democrats claim that a requirement for you to have your identification card when you vote is racist. Why do they feel that minorities can't go to the DMV to get an ID? Do Democrats feel that minorities are incapable of obtaining one? Why don't they just provide free ID instead of charging money for it? What about all the issues in the big Democrat run cities? New York City, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Baltimore for example show how their liberal policies failed. Do we consider the elected officials of those communities racist because the majority of people affect were minorities.

When do we ask the question, are the Democrats racists?

To answer our own question, the chances are those elected aren't racists. We don't believe they go into work everyday trying to figure out how to make people of color's lives worse. Unfortunately, the leaders of the Democrat party have the viewpoint that President Trump and all conservatives do. They believe that conservatives are evil people with evil ideas. Most conservatives believe that Democrats are good people, with bad ideas.

The fact is that Democrats are scared that Trump will win 2020. Most of his policies are working for the people of the United States. With minority unemployment at an all time low it is getting more and more difficult for Democrats to come up with a competing idea. What are the Democratic presidential candidates offering the people? I'll tell you what they aren't offering, and that is hope. As they continue their pessimistic view of America, President Trump is portraying an America that is working for the betterment of everyone.

Let me urge upon you this thought, that no matter what skin color you are, what your faith is, no matter where you came from, we are all Americans. America has allowed for the best men and women of all races and creeds to come to the forefront and change the country when needed. America has allowed for everyone to have an opportunity to succeed. America has never guaranteed success, but it has guaranteed that you as an individual have the right to the opportunity to succeed.

America has been built throughout the years by everyone who has shared in the same dream of liberty and justice for all. There is no white culture in America, there is no black culture in America, there is only American culture. That is not to minimize anything or anyone from what any race has done, but it has all been done in the spirit of America. We as the people are in this together and the sooner we realize this, the sooner we can continue to grow as a nation.

We the people of the United States need to realize that those in power who try to divide us are just trying to weaken the people. Together we are strong as Americans, and shouldn't accept our elected officials hiding behind racial fallacies when their ideas are criticized. We the people deserve only the best leadership and its about time we start holding those in power accountable.
